In an Australian first, Mountview Alpaca Farm created an alpaca therapy program with local South East Queensland Hospitals and Aged Care Facilities.
We kicked off the program at Beaudesert Hospital in mid 2018 with our first visit to Brisbane Children’s Hospital in December 2018.
The alpacas, Ed Sheeran and his woolly friends Tim Tam and Pancake started off the program and we then trained more alpacas such as Noodle, Peaches, Ernie and Elvis to help out! You can even now donate $5.00 when booking one of our vineyard experiences to help with training, feeding and travelling costs to get them to their much needed patients.
For our Therapy Alpaca sessions, we select certain alpacas which will interact with disability clients whether in wheelchairs or nervous with animals for example. We have had very positive feedback from carers and NDIS providers.
Each booking gives you one therapy alpaca for 30mins to cover up to 2 clients and one carer (3 people maximum per alpaca). These sessions are only open to disability clients and their careers, so if you are not registered under NDIS or don’t have a recognised disability then you would need to book the standard alpaca experience.
Our staff will help you with the alpaca and some clients just wish to sit on the grass with the alpaca, whilst others may wish to pat and walk with the alpaca. We have alpacas who will walk alongside electric wheelchairs also.
PLEASE NOTE: Price covers 1 Carer and up to 2 clients (3 total) with 1 alpaca to share.

PLEASE NOTE: Pricing is based on a minimum of three paying clients, with all carers being free of charge. This means you do not have to purchase a ticket for any carers, you will only have to purchase tickets for each client (minimum of three clients required).

With the “Join in as a Smile Delivery Crew Member” experience, you can book to be involved in a pre-determined visit (to a hospital/aged care/school/NDIS provider) organised by our staff.
The locations will be pre booked and posted on our socials and website, or alternatively just send us an email to check the locations of the upcoming visits. Joining in on these visits also helps us to cover the costs associated in getting the alpacas out to the people who need us & will allow us to give more of our time.
Our Paca Crew staff member will meet you on location with the alpacas ready for a briefing of your role. We will give you all the info you need to be at the right place at the right time and teach you what to do! You simply turn up at the predetermined location ready to spread the smiles!
With the “Create a Smile Delivery” experience, you can book our therapy alpacas to arrive at a specific facility (hospital, aged care facility, school, NDIS provider etc). Surprise a family member or just do a good deed for the community – the heart felt rewards are the same for both recipient and crew member!
The experience covers up to 4 people as “Crew Members” to attend and join in so you can bring family members or friends along.
Our Paca Crew staff member will meet you on location in the PAC VAN with the alpacas ready for a briefing of your role. We will give you all of the info you need and teach you what to do! You simply turn up at the selected location ready to spread the smiles! Your group will walk the alpacas through the facility & interact with the residents/patients as for a 60min experience.
