Watch our Rules & Instructions
Alpacas Experience Rules
- Adult supervision is essential for children under 16 years of age & accompanying adults are responsible for ensuring childrens’ safety.
- All adults and children in each group must remain calm and behave in a relaxed and polite manner with the alpacas at all times. Do not run around the alpaca or shout/agitate the animal.
- Children and adults are not to walk directly behind the alpaca as alpacas can kick out if they feel under threat.
- Do not run with the alpacas or pull on their halter excessively.
- Do not let toddlers or young children be in control of the alpacas. Ask for a second lead rope if your young child wants to be involved.
- Keep to the grassed areas and do not walk the alpacas across the driveway, car park or close to the creek.
- If you have trouble getting your alpaca to move along, ask one of our staff for help and we will assist you. Do not yank on the lead.
- Anyone acting in an unsafe manner or distressing any animal will have their alpaca experience terminated early without refund.
Instructions for Alpaca Experiences
Do not run with an alpaca. You must remain at a calm walk at all times & do not allow children to run around the animals.
- Long lead – hold at the middle of the rope when walking with your alpaca and use a gentle continuous pull to get them moving. No tugging or yanking. If they lay down, or stop, try walking them in the opposite direction to get them moving again.
- Short lead when patting, only touching the neck and shoulders. Hold the lead up close to the halter for photos.
- Feeding only out of your flat hand, not out of the bag. Save some food for the way back.
- Adults must be securely holding the lead rope at all times, unless told otherwise by a staff member. If your young child would like to participate, please ask for a second lead rope.
- Avoid walking behind the alpaca or touching the back end near the tail, as they can kick if annoyed or scared. Also, avoid patting their head as they may spit.
- Please be considerate of other customers by returning your alpaca on time.
